(NORMAN, Okla.) The countdown to the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic is on, and as each day passes on the way to May 20-21, the list of unique auction items and participating celebrities grows. The eighth annual event's dinner, musical entertainment, live and silent auctions and golf tournament is well on its way to equaling the standards set by prior gatherings.
Just added to the auction rolls are an autographed jersey from the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, a Muhammad Ali autographed boxing glove, a baseball autographed by Alex Rodriguez, a Jimmy Johnson autographed champagne bottle and racing helmet and an autographed Peyton Manning jersey. Experiences include a Hamptons package with golf and spa gift certificates, tickets to the OU-Texas game, four tickets to the PGA Championship and a golf package for four to play nine different courses.
A Nashville package includes lodging at Gaylord Opryland Hotel, passes to the Frist Center, zoo passes, dining and more. Sugarland, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Jimmy Buffett and Carrie Underwood are among the performers offering concert experiences. And Miranda Lambert has offered up a package including four autographed bottles of her private label wine.
Celebrities attending and playing golf include Olympic gold medalist Bart Conner, entertainer Red Steagall, Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, Heisman Trophy winner Steve Owens and current and former NFL players including Cedric Jones, Roy Williams, Dermontti Dawson, Rocky Calmus, Tony Casillas and Joe Washington.
As always, the focus of Toby's fundraiser is providing sick children and their families some much needed support. The Toby Keith Foundation is taking the lead in raising funds to build the OK Kids Korral home for pediatric cancer patients and families near the OU Medical Center Children's Hospital. "We are doing our best to address issues that arise while a child is in treatment such as weakened immune systems and sensitivity to light," Keith says. "More than anything, we want it to be a home of inspiration, encouragement and hope."
